So yes, it seems as though everyone in Acapulco hates me. Firstly, our fantastic new house is still fantastic, but the owner of the house is not a member, so the members of our ward are upset that we stopped renting from a member. They feel that they should not have to support or sustain us if we don't support or sustain the members in this way. I keep checking my watch to see if enough time has passed for these children to grow up a bit and start acting like adults. (Sorry, that was harsh, but I think I'm going to leave it.)
The GOOD news is, we found Irma and Kevin! We found Irma because we were talking to her mom, who is old and really doesn't want anything. THEN, Irma showed up and didn't want anything either. But, we started to get to know Irma a little bit, and we started talking about prayer and repentance and the Book of Mormon, and all of a sudden she was super interested and then we met her son, Kevin. Kevin is 17 years old and him and his girlfriend have a son who just turned 1! How exciting! So he also happens to be super interested, because he recognizes that he needs to be an example for his son, and if his son doesn't have a better example to look up to, things aren't going to go as Kevin hopes. They've accepted a baptismal date for 09 of December.
In other news, we received flu shots again, and I love Hermana Ávila, but she's not a nurse. She's technically certified to give shots, but she shouldn't.
We found in the area book a man who was baptized 3 years ago, but never confirmed. His name is Esteban, he's like 60 years old, he's a college professor, and he's very lonely. We had an appointment with him, but due to the stabbing (flu shots), we were going to arrive 10 minutes late, so we called him to let him know, and he FLIPPED. We learned that he's also grumpy. And very used to getting mad an young people who arrive late to his class. This man will require patience, love, and punctuality. But I'm determined to help this man who doesn't feel much love, feel the love of Christ in his life daily.
Yesterday, Elder Oaks and Elder Ballard did a Face to Face event for the young single adults of the church. Presidente Ávila asked that all missionaries attend, which is weird because so often there's this huge effort to keep the YSA and the missionaries separate, but we went, because I'm just 8 months away from returning to the "young single adult" category (which, by the way, is totally unacceptable). Anyways, it was FANTASTIC, and I encourage any who missed it to go back and watch it.
